Truth Reports

Bud doesn't just rate products. It explains them.

Every Truth Report is a full evidence dossier - label data, allergen mapping, manufacturing disclosures, and ingredient-level analysis, assembled into a document your pantry can actually use.

Over 1,200 reports published · Updated as labels change

Why This Exists

The information you need is already on the package. It's just not organized for you.

Food shopping with allergies or dietary restrictions isn't a knowledge problem - it's a presentation problem. The data exists. It's buried. Truth Reports surface it.

The label is buried.

Marketing copy occupies roughly 90% of visible packaging space. The ingredient list - the only part that legally matters - is printed small, on the back, after everything designed to make you buy. Bud inverts that hierarchy.

Reviews are noisy.

A 4.8-star rating tells you how something tastes. It doesn't tell you whether the facility was recertified last quarter, whether the formulation changed, or whether a "dairy-free" claim holds at the manufacturing level. Stars are not safety data.

Tradeoffs aren't obvious.

A brand swaps an ingredient to reduce cost. The product looks identical on shelf. The allergy risk profile changes entirely. These substitutions happen without fanfare. Truth Reports catch them - because they read the label, not the brand's communication.

What's Inside

Four layers. One complete picture.

A Truth Report isn't a summary. It's a structured intelligence document - built from the label up, not from the brand down. Each layer adds a dimension most product ratings never consider.

Four stacked layers: Evidence, Profile Match, Crowd Logic, Smart Swaps
01

Label Evidence

Bud’s on-device OCR reads the full label - ingredients, allergen declarations, advisory warnings, and manufacturing disclosures. Nothing is paraphrased or inferred. The source text is preserved and cited.

02

Profile Match

Every piece of label evidence is cross-referenced against your allergy profile, dietary requirements, and flagged ingredients. The verdict - Compatible, Caution, or Avoid - is specific to you. A report that says Compatible for one person may say Avoid for another.

03

Crowd Logic

Bud aggregates anonymized scan and verdict data from users with similar profiles. If 94% of users with your allergy stack rated a product Avoid, that signal is surfaced - transparently, with the profile distribution shown. You’re never flying blind.

Smart Swaps

For every Caution or Avoid verdict, Bud identifies alternatives that resolve the specific conflict - not just “similar products.” If the issue is a shared peanut facility, the swap will be sourced from a dedicated nut-free facility. The fix matches the problem.

This is a real analysis - not a mockup. Every field reflects a genuine label scan and profile match.

Label Evidence

"Contains: Milk, Soy. May contain peanuts, tree nuts, wheat."

Source: Rear label, allergen declaration block, batch scan April 2026

Profile Match

  • Dairy conflict: Contains milk - direct declaration
  • Soy conflict: Contains soy - direct declaration
  • Tree nut advisory: May contain tree nuts - precautionary language, not a confirmed presence

Crowd Logic

78% of users with a Dairy-Free + Soy-Free profile rated this product Avoid. Remaining 22% carry either a Dairy-Free or Soy-Free requirement - not both.

Smart Swap

RXBar Chocolate Sea Salt

No dairy, no soy, dedicated allergen-free facility confirmed.

This report was generated from an OCR scan of physical packaging. Formulations change. Re-scan when packaging changes.

The Distinction

A review tells you how something tastes. A Truth Report tells you what's actually in it.

Reviews are useful. They tell you about texture, value, and whether the flavour lives up to the name on the front. They are not designed to tell you about allergen cross-contact risk, ingredient substitutions, or manufacturing disclosures. Truth Reports are designed to do exactly that - and nothing else. We are not in the review business. We are in the clarity business.

The buddy you always needed - now with receipts.

Your pantry deserves better intelligence.
